Record fresh App Store screenshots of the new design, using the framer's new layouts

Why

• The screenshots are out of date. The App Store images in fastlane/screenshots/en-US were made on 2026-09-19 (#579), over 120 commits ago. Much of the app has changed since then:

  • the UI polish sprint (VAULT-1–13);
  • App Lock and the App Lock Password, with the vault door on the lock screen;
  • Settings with section headers and coloured icons;
  • item pages that look like the editor;
  • the feed's bottom bar;
  • hero headers on the Backups, Restore and import screens (VAULT-77).

  Every release upload (fastlane ios release) sends whatever is in that folder, so build 100013 went out with the old images.

• The screenshots are plain. Every image is the same layout: one upright device under a title, on a blue gradient.

• The framer can do more now. vault-app pins device-screenshot-framer on main, but Package.resolved holds it at 760a2de. That's from before the layouts added in framer PRs #4 and #5:

  • devices that bleed off the edge;
  • devices placed and rotated anywhere, including overlapping pairs;
  • zoom callouts;
  • drop shadows;
  • panoramas: one canvas cut into several App Store images;
  • text that fits itself to placed devices.

  gps-app already uses them (gps-app #49), so its config is a working example.

Plan

1. Update the framer. Run swift package update device-screenshot-framer in Vault/, and check that make screenshots-frame still runs.

2. Choose the scenes.

   • Look at what ScreenshotMode (-screenshot-scene) captures today: feed, detail, tags, backups and settings.
   • Add scenes for what the new design shows best, for example:
     • the lock screen with the vault door;
     • an item page;
     • a hero-header backup screen;
     • the dark appearance.
   • Keep captures on the in-memory demo vault, as now.

3. Make the images more striking with the new layouts, for example:

   • a first image with a large device that bleeds off the edge or is tilted;
   • a zoom callout on a live code and its timer;
   • an overlapping light and dark pair in place of the separate dark image;
   • a two- or three-page panorama that tells one story (locked, then unlocked, then the feed);
   • drop shadows.

   Check every image is still readable at App Store thumbnail size, on both iPhone 6.9" and iPad 13".

4. Refresh the copy. Titles and subtitles should match what the app does now. Every claim must hold as docs/security-model.md states it: for example "fully offline" holds, but "nothing can read your vault" needs the App Lock Password.

5. Decide how much duress to show. Decide whether the listing names or shows duress features (killphrases, duress passwords). MANIFESTO C9 is about the app's own UI, and the README and FAQ already describe these features. But a screenshot showing them is a choice for Bradley, so ask before adding one.

Done when

• The images are new captures of the current design at iPhone 6.9" and iPad 13", using several of the new layouts, and have been reviewed at full size and at thumbnail size.
• The copy matches what the app does.
• fastlane/screenshots/en-US, the configs and Vault/Screenshots/README.md (new scenes and layout notes) are updated in a PR. The images go up with the next release, or on their own with deliver.
